January 11, 2009 TONKAWA minutes:

The TONKAWA Secretary opened the doors at 11am. Our faithful TONKAWA members: Jerry Starnes and Rita come early and were followed shortly by Nellie Ruiz and Helen Halling, All begin to review the past three months of activities and meetings of our American Indian community. TONKAWA President Violet Tunohun very recently had major surgery and could not attend. Tonkawa Vice President Jean Vigneault led the meeting and Jerry Starnes provided the blessing before the luncheon.

Tonkawa old business: Oct. 4, 08 Community after picnic report tabled.

Tonkawa New business: Eileen George reported that Easter Abrahano is in an assisted living home in El Cajon. Nellie Ruiz distributed birthday and get well cards for signature by the TONAWA members.

Tonkawa VP appointed Jerry Starnes to be the Tonkawa Vice president for the remainder of the term.

VP Jerry Starnes declared the TONKAWA treasurers position vacant and appointed Jean Vigneault to fulfill the duties of TONKAWA treasurer for the remainder of the term.

Our terrific TONKAWA members continue to keep happy smiles and real good eats in this potluck meal: Beef stroganoff over butter noodles, corn off the cob, Spanish rice, yellow steamed squash, rolls, middle eastern flat bread, sugar cookies and plenty of Hot TONKAWA coffee brewing to wash it all down.

We cleaned up and some TONKAWA members were out the door by 12:30 pm to Charger football fever activities on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. Finally, there is hope for life else ware- Football is in season!

Maybe we will see you and a friend (We are always recruiting Elders to be TONKWA members!). It is always nice to see new members and guests drop in and are encouraged to return. This is a real nice down home meeting to attend. We are also very pleased to enjoy the regular attendance of TONKAWA along with community guests and family members.

Respectfully submitted:
Roy Cook, TONKAWA secretary
