November
11, 2007 TONKAWA Minutes.
We had the best-attended and joyful meeting in some time!
Jerry Starnes set up the room for the regular noon TONKAWA meeting. Many
regular and special members attended the TONKAWA meeting. Don Vigenault
opened the meeting with a blessing and prayer for our Warriors and those
who were not able to attend because of illness or disaster. Nellie Ruiz
was able to make her bus connections and was also an early member for
the TONKAWA meetings
Manuel and
Cecilia Flores brought an always-welcome Holiday treat- hot white corn
with green chili Tamales. Nellie Ruiz complimented the Southwest theme
with an enchilada casserole and Spanish rice. There was also: Beans, carrots,
potatoes and cheese along with a wide selection of fresh fruit. Chef Jerry
Starnes brought in a special herbal chicken dish. Finally, chips, dips,
cookies, bananas for all the monkeys in the room. Fresh homemade bread
with butter complimented the main dishes. Soda pop, ice tea, good Navy
Hot Coffee with pie, ice cream and a great selection of cookies added
to this rich meal!
Excellent
laughter and jokes throughout the meal continued as we completed our meal
with announcements of the Holiday Dinner, Family night, and Southern Indian
Health Wellness conference at Barona.
Tell all the TONKAWA members and friend of these opportunities.
Finally,
Maybe we will see you and a friend (We are always recruiting Elders to
be TONKWA members!). We are very pleased to enjoy the regular attendance
of TONKAWA also community guests and family members. (Aho to Violet Tunohun
for these great shots.)
Our next TONKAWA
meeting is at noon December 9, 2007, at the Many Nations: Chet Hunt Community
Room, 3928 Illinois St. San Diego, CA. 92104.
