TONKAWA
Talking Leaf notes Meeting: June 12, 2005
Sometimes
you just cannot predict how a meeting will develop. It was overcast as
most days are in this June gloom. Jerry Starnes and Roy Cook
got there early and were reviewing the San Luis Rey Pow wow event as they
were setting up the room for the gathering.
TONKAWA secretary
Roy Cook joined hands in a prayer circle for all our Indian Nations peoples.
Jerry Starnes provided the prayer in for all the people in a sincere spiritual
language.
Good fellowship is
all around us as surprisingly few members enter the.
Announcements
of the: Native American events downtown and in the North county shed light
on the small turn out this meeting. We were able to discuss the annual
TONKAWA picnic. General topics of: where, when, who to invite were aired
and tabled for further discussion. Also brought up are the craft projects
and the interest and direction of the membership. Both topics were tabled
for further discussion.

Very tasty, tender,
turkey with dressing with mashed potatoes and gravy, Spanish rice and
an interpretation of the Waldorf salad rounded out the generous buffet.
Chips, dip, rolls and butter for the croissants filled out the extra spaces.
Choices of hot coffee, iced tea and many choices of soda pop lubricated
the great fun, traditional tribal teasing and good fellowship that makes
this one of the most satisfying meetings of the month.
Although few, the
members and visitors left with thoughtful opinions, big smiles and memories
of a different meeting and some with a nice snack for later too!
Maybe
we will see you and a friend (We are recruiting interested members!) at
the next TONKAWA meetings at the Many Nations: Chet Hunt Community room,
3928 Illinois St. San Diego, CA. 92104.
